We are thrilled to announce the Ernest Journal launch party on Saturday 7 June at the Cube Cinema in Bristol, to celebrate the arrival of our first print edition.
Join us for an evening of talks, short films, games and merriment as we journey through the Arctic with Siggi the Icelandic sailor and Dines the Greenlandic hunter; embark on a 100-mile vodka-supported run through the Red Sands Desert of Uzbekistan; probe the murky world of rockets, rumours and flying saucers to find out once and for all if the Nazis put a man on the moon and meet an Alpine community that has built the world's largest underground temple, taught plants to sing and claims to have invented the world's first fully-functioning time machine.
8pm: doors open
8.45pm-10.15pm: talks and short films
10.15pm-1am: Games, DJs & dancing
What to expect: mild peril, messages in bottles, on the spot grid reference tests, explorer dance-offs, dark and stormy nightcaps, sea monster Top Trumps, collective noun Call My Bluff and more maps than you can shake a sextant at.
What to bring: a reckless spirit of adventure, a good sense of direction, a question you’ve always wanted to ask an explorer but were too afraid to ask, a spare pair of gloves.
Dress for adventure.
Tickets available via Eventbrite.
£6 advance; £12 including a copy of Ernest Journal in print.
* There are only 100 tickets, so please book now to avoid crushing disappointment.
